Coming off a redesign last year, the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado is unchanged other than the addition of satellite radio as standard equipment and an optional integrated trailer brake controller.
- Refined and very quiet ride, pleasing fit and finish inside, seats are comfortable for long drives, comprehensive list of safety equipment.
- Larger turning circle than most rivals, mediocre interior storage and cupholders.

So Fun, Big, Handy, And give it time - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By MRAUDIOVISUAL - March 30 - 10:36 pmTruck is great, for those of you worried about MPG, i got to 13000 and finally started to see much Much better gas mileage. Very happy with the dealer, great looking truck, came with chrome bumper, fender,chrome rims, and its very sporty for a pick up, i love the 8 foot bed, as i can lay a full size queen mattress down in the bed flat. Haven t done any towing but have driven from Orlando to Nashville, and only stopped once, Didnt have any issues doing 65-75mph, just dont go above 75mph as the over drive starts to really hurt mpg. I get on average 400 miles a tank on 30 gallons, not to great or bad for a V6, i love my truck im 66 and i can fit in it just fine , GM is still a great company.

Great Garage Queen - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By prsncat - February 27 - 6:30 pmParked it when gas reached $4/gal. due to poor gas mileage. Love the way it drives now that it has an ARE shell (weight on the tail helps). Great for towing. Always reliable - no problems whatsoever. Cloth seat material is a PITA -- I put Wet Okole seat covers in the first month. It didnt hold its value -- I tried selling for $12.5K and didnt get a single call. I will resume driving it daily when the Honda Civic lease ends.

Love it but slightly sketchy - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I love it but im noticing some issues someonelse previously wrote about with the thud noise in the differential. Ive also noticed a delay in acceleration. No longer have dealerships here on island and ive also been told those are normal??? Anyone experienced these things and if so...normal????

My first new truck - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Coach Stew - January 5 - 6:46 pmI have wanted a truck for some time and choose this vehicle over the F-150. My experience so far with this vehicle has confirmed I made the right choice. I particularly like the fact that it does ride very smooth. I dont like the fact that the air conditioner automatically switches back to outside air. I havent figured that out yet.

By workdude - December 27 - 1:30 pmThis truck has been is the repair shop a lot over the past 5 months I have owned it. Most of the miles are highway. 12,500 miles. I live down a gravel road so I have had some issues with rock chips, behind the back tries and front. Frame is really built cheap on these pickups, fuel pump has been replaced, starter replaced, The tires seem to wear uneven, fuel mileage is horrible, I get better on my 1 ton truck.

By Bowtie - November 25 - 1:20 pmI was a little disappointed in the fact that I have serious lack of options on this model, but after comparing other crew cab trucks for the same price I realize I have more. The Dodge Ram would have been my other choice, but I have some full sized kids to tote along with other work related items. Performance is decent the engine responds well in a pinch. The ride is smooth, only second to the Ford F-150 (and Ive test driven all the competition). Ive put 2500 miles on it in 2 weeks...and I have filled it up no less than 10 times...so the gas mileage stinks, but hey...its a truck!

LTZ Z71 Crew Cab - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By 3006 - October 25 - 1:23 pmLTZ Z71 Crew Cab is the way to go! So far, I am averaging 17.9mpg with 12k miles of driving in all conditions. I love pretty much everything about this truck and I havent had to take it in for any warranty work yet! the only thing I can say need improvemnts are the roof height if you get a sunroof. I am 62" and sometimes I my head brushes the roof. Annoying as heck. Also, the rear bumper is worthless in the new trucks. I was bumped in the rear left corner. With the old truck, I wouldnt have had any damage at all. However, the bumper on the new truck folded right in and the side panel crushed. $1500 to repair! The lady hardly touched me!

None better for the money - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By jpr2 - October 21 - 9:50 pmThis is my 6th truck, and it is by far the best. Plenty of power for a 6 cyl and the mileage is fair too. I avg. 18+ in town, and get a bit over 20 on the hwy (3.23 gears). I wish the highway was better, but just put a Leer canopy (Legend-100) on and hope the highway mpg improves. The canopy increased the wind noise, which is unusual. The truck had been the quietest I have driven. The steering is absolutely the best, and the tranny shifts smoothly when warmed up. The suspension is like no other, and does not skip around "bumpy" turns, but hugs the road. OnStar and XM radio are great, although the rear speakers are weak at best. My box seems to fit fine, although slanted up.

By Jim & Norma - October 10 - 5:06 amThis truck is excellent! Weve owned about a dozen new and used Chevy pickups in the last 25yrs. They just keep getting better! We like the new hood style. The ride is extremely smooth and comfortable. Visibility out all windows is great. This truck rides more like a car. I would have to say this is probably the best used pickup "so far".

New, Fun Silverado - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Ric Gleason - September 19 - 5:10 pmSo far, so good. No issues what-so-ever. The mileage is not great, but it is a truck so Im not upset at all. The 5.3 is plenty for my applications, but I do think a 6 speed tranny would be better. The Crew Cab layout is great. I narrowed my selection to the Silverado and the Tundra. After driving both, I chose the Silverado. No regrets at all. Overall its a very nice truck.
